Light and soil

Light and Soil:

  • Japanese boxwood thrives in full sun to partial shade, but afternoon shade is beneficial in hot climates.

  • It prefers well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to slightly alkaline pH.

  • Good drainage is crucial to prevent root rot, so avoid soggy conditions.

Watering:

Water regularly, especially when young, to keep the soil consistently moist. Once established, they are moderately drought-tolerant but still appreciate watering during dry spells. Avoid overwatering, as they don't tolerate soggy soil well.
