Plant Care 

Light: Texas Privet thrives in full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Full sun is ideal for promoting the best foliage color.

Soil: Well-draining soil is crucial for Texas Privet. Amend heavy clay soils with organic matter to improve drainage.

Young plants need regular watering, about once a week, until established. Mature shrubs are relatively drought-tolerant but benefit from supplemental watering during extended dry spells.

​Fertilizing: In early spring, apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for shrubs. You can add a second application in the fall.

Pruning: Texas Privet is a fast grower and benefits from regular pruning. Prune after flowering, typically in late spring or early summer. Shearing or pruning the outer branch tips helps maintain the desired shape and density. Removal of dead or non-productive branches can also be done during pruning.
